AGNES VAILLE FALLS!
A Tall Waterfall In Chalk Creek Canyon (Near Nathrop, CO) April 23, 2006
|
How to get there: From Nathrop, head west on Chaffee County Road 162 into Chalk Creek Canyon. Pass the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs on your left and continue on for about four to five more miles. You'll see the parking lot and trailhead to your right, and it's practically across the road from the Chalk Creek Campground. (Adjacent photo: A view of the Chalk Cliffs from the parking lot.) |
|
The scenery alone of Colorado's Rocky Mountains is quite impressive. I actually took this photo about 0.5 miles before reaching the Agnes Vaille Falls sign. |
|
It is a modest 0.5 mile trail to the waterfall, and I really like this shot of part of the creek. |
|
And there it is ... Agnes Vaille Falls! If you really love waterfalls and you're in the Chaffee County area (Salida, Nathrop, Buena Vista), this is definitely a "must see" in the spring, summer or fall.
Definitely visit my Colorado Waterfalls page to see all of my photography of waterfalls throughout the state! :) |

A zoom-in of the water splattering. |

LEFT: I included this friendly guy to show a little depth.
RIGHT: This waterfall is located inside the geological area known as the Chalk Cliffs, in which that gray-shaded rock is called kaolinite. |
|
Looking back out with the waterfall directly to my left, here's the beautiful view of the mountains comprising of Mt. Antero's range. That summit in the middle could very well be the Mt. Antero summit, but I can't confirm it. |

One token photo of myself.
