CHAFFEE COUNTY PICTURES: Photos of Surrounding Mountain Scenery!
February 2005
Some of the scenery in Chaffee County! TOP: Mt. Princeton (alt. 14,197 feet)
2nd TO TOP: Mt. Yale (alt. 14,196 feet) 3rd TO TOP: Mt. Antero (alt. 14,269 feet) BOTTOM: Zoom-in of Mt. Antero's northeast face. |
Just north of Mt. Yale is the Mt. Harvard and Mt. Columbia cluster. I had a hard time getting a good shot of them from the Arkansas Valley. TOP: Mt. Yale (left) and Mt. Harvard & Columbia cluster (right). BOTTOM: I drove north a bit on Highway 24. I'm 99% sure the right peak is Mt. Columbia (alt. 14,420 feet). |
| Heading north of Buena Vista, I thought this view was striking. |
| I drove into Clear Creek Canyon with the hopes of photographing Vicksburg and Winfield (two historic ghostowns), but the road was covered with quite a bit of snow. So, before backing out, I took a shot of clouds hovering over what I believe is Waverly Mountain (alt. 13,291 feet), a 13er in front of 14er Mt. Oxford. |
TOP: Clouds hover over Mt. Massive (alt. 14,420 feet). BOTTOM: Clouds partially consume Mt. Elbert (alt. 14,433 feet), the highest point in Colorado. |
| The Arkansas River as a young baby! (Picture taken on the Granite, CO bridge.) |
| The Mt. Shavano (alt. 14,229 feet) and Tabeguache Peak (alt. 14,155 feet) from two different angles. |
| Lastly, a view of the northern Sangre de Cristo range, south of Salida. |
