Colorado National Monument, Part I
April 2002

Pictures from Colorado National Monument ... HOORAY! |
Doesn't this rock look like a camel? :) |
This is a really beautiful park. Amongst all
the canyons and rock formations, this bird flew all around me and didn't even seem scared! |
Just one of many amazing canyons. |
The great thing about the park is you can hike along the bottom at the base of these formations! I drove on the along the main road, which was quite impressive, but I didn't have time to hike. :( |
I'm not sure what kind of bird that is, but it proudly soared through the air! :) |
That's Fruita or Grand Junction is the background. By the way, while I got your here,
check out Colorado Desert pictures I took nearby. |
A great shot with some formations, a pristine
background and a guy standing with his video camera in the lower left! |
Special thanks to Matt and Jenni in Delta, who hosted me! |
I'm not sure if you can really grasp how amazing these structures are. I highly recommend visiting in person! |
John Otto is the biggest hero of this park. Over one hundred years ago, Otto created the trails and advocated that the area become a national park. Without Otto's fantastic work, amazing parks like this could have overrun by suburban homes and development. |
Look out for Part Two Pictures sometime later in the week! |
I gotta throw in one token picture of me! :) |
