Colorado Railroad Museum: Pictures of Colorado's Historic Railroad Trains (Golden, CO) July 30, 2005
The Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden! :) This is a really great place to take your kids (especially if they love trains) or
for railroad enthusiasts and Colorado history buffs. My parents and I enjoyed our visit for sure.
You can take a train ride that does a loop around the park.
Look at this big hunk of a train! That is all steel ...
kind of like the way cars were made in the old days. (e.g. 1964 Cadillac)
This train is the Denver & Rio Grande Western Gauge Locomotive.
See the bottom right photo to see just how large the metal area
is for feeding it coal. Wow!
Many different historic old trains in there including this caboose.
My parents and I took the tour train ride, and the engineer stated that this black "191" train was built in the 1860's. Pretty interesting!
Lastly, they have an old Midland Railroad train car!
This is the same train that would travel up Ute Pass from
Colorado Springs! Check out my recent hike of the
actual old Colorado Midland Railroad bed
between Manitou Springs and Cascade.
Inside the train, note the attractive interior. The dark red
chairs are currently being restored to its original quality. Also, note the black and white photo.
The train traveled to Eleven Mile Canyon with another spur
heading to Cripple Creek. The train was known to stop in
Green Mountain Falls for guests to pick wildflowers.
