Boki Goes to Hawaii

Prominent Café Worker Endorses DONNA WARD
Then Criticizes Boki's "Bald Head"

March 16, 2002

Sherri endorses Donna Ward MANITOU SPRINGS, CO - Sherri A., a prominent employee at Spice of Life Café in Manitou Springs, officially endorsed Donna Ward as Hair Consultant in the upcoming April election.

"I'm voting for Donna because she has hair." said Sherri, in a not-so-subtle knock against rival Boki Evans, a popular costumer at the café. Sherri continued her criticism and questioned whether Boki's bald head would negatively affect the dignity of the office of Hair Consultant.

"Boki doesn't have enough hair to know what to do … how could he be Hair Consultant if he don't have none himself. He's got a bald head … when did he lose his hair?"

Upon hearing the news of the endorsement, candidate Donna Ward was pleased that Sherri was voting for her. "Oh, Sherri is a sweet gal. I think she's great."

Vote for Donna campaign sign in ManitouSherri and Donna originally become friends when Sherri worked at Donna's café and restaurant in the old Spa Building, which closed in 1999. According to polls, Donna has improved her popularity because of her strong stand against Steve's dred locks. Most recently, 'Vote for Donna' signs began appearing on the streets of Manitou Springs.

With Sherri's support, a once certain victory for Boki in this district (containing 21 electoral votes) has diminished and Spice of Life Café is now calculated as a "toss-up" between Boki and Donna. With just café employees and the owners allowed to vote, Sherri's vote is seen as a possible swing vote that could hand the district to Donna. Since the café and deli-style restaurant is considered the de facto campaign headquarters for Boki Evans, losing his home district would be devastating.

Boki's bald headAlthough Steve Garufi has remained silent in disclosing who he will vote for in April, Steve elaborated on Boki's "appearance problem," which some argue is a key drawback to ColoradoGuy voters.

"I think the anti-Boki voters have been real polite so far and nobody has had the courage to bring up (the bald head issue), and think it's fair for Boki to explain to the voters why he, with a bald head, should be elected Hair Consultant."

Others however, may be more understanding of Boki's lack of hair. "Those that can't comb their hair, comb others'. A lot of hairdressers are like that." said Steve's sister-in-law in New York.

Sherri, who has worked at the café for over two years, has been bold and outspoken before on this web site. Last summer, she and Steve became entangled in a vicious passive-aggression battle inside the café that only ended after an embarrassing news article exposed their strife. Soon after, Steve humbly apologized for his behavior.
