COLORADO SPRINGS, CO -- Chris Morton, the host and leader of Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi's weekly Bible study, formally announced his candidacy for Hair Consultant this weekend.

The 33-year-old Christian theologian (for a well-known Christian organization) and "Ned Flanders look alike" declared his desire to be the chief leader and encourager in Steve's effort to grow his hair as long as possible.

"I want to see your hair in a pony tail down to your butt." stated Chris, who did not outline a specific hair-related strategy in his press release.

Being husband and father of two toddlers, working a full-time job and studying for his Ph.D. in Theology, Chris will not have much time for campaigning and admitted his chances of winning the mid-April election are slim. Yet most expect Chris to at least win the Morton Bible Study district, which has approximately six to eight regular attendees and a commanding 24 electoral votes.

"I might be like a Ralph Nader or even worse a Dennis Kucinich." joked Chris, as he helped Steve do his taxes today.

Compared to the other Hair Consultant candidate (Financial Analyist Laura "Laloo" Johnson of California), Chris has enjoyed a lot of coverage on this web site and is perhaps best known for his classic smile as he read The Gas We Pass: The Story of Farts in 2000. Pictorials include his children, him smoking cigars with Steve, and his participation in a community project with him wearing a lady bug on his head. The weekly Bible study was also publicized after a woman strangled Steve on the family couch and in another incident, the same woman gave painful armpit noogies to Steve.

This is Chris' first attempt in running for public office. He is an avid jogger and has lived in Colorado Springs for his entire life.

NOTE: The final day to qualify as a Hair Consultant candidate in this year's election is February 29. Actual voting occurs from April 15-18.
