ROADS LESS TRAVELED IN FREMONT COUNTY!
(Temple Canyon Park, Near Texas Creek, Highway Nine North)
November 14, 2003
Temple Canyon Park! Go south on 1st Street in Canon City and follow the signs when you leave town.
Before you actually reach the park, you've got some great views to the north!
Folks, this is principally a "drive-thru park." The terrain is very desert-like with pinions everywhere.

A couple of shots from an overlook.

It's a pleasant drive with some nice scenery, yet don't expect to be necessarily "wowwed" from this area.
And that's the actual Temple Canyon, with a nice stream running through. (The lighting is pretty bad in this one.)

Near Texas Creek and Cotopaxi
This is actually the dirt road that leads out of Temple Canyon Park, approaching the spur to the south rim of Royal Gorge.

Nice shot of the sky!
Okay, I started to head up the canyon. CLICK HERE to see photos of my bike trip through here!
Heading south on Highway 69, south of Texas Creek.
Looking back north, the skies were very clear...
...yet looking south, a snowstorm fogged up the Sangre de Cristo range.

See the zoom-in anyway. It's pretty nice! ;)
Another pretty shot.
The Arkansas River!

  • That's me! :)

Highway 9 North to the County Line
Near Canon City, take Highway 9 North if you want to get to Guffey, Hartsel or other area in Southern Park County.
Picture taken through the windshield of my car.
And now, a small commercial! :)
Ha ha ha ha ha! How embarrassing!

Guffey has an "E" in there! ;)
Just inside the northern county line. The lighting was horrible in the photo, but it's a nice view!
