Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park, July 2001
The "Northern Route" from Estes Park is a one-way graded dirt road that goes up through a valley. |
As much as the views from the top were mind-boggling (which you'll see soon), the anticipation of the long, winding ride up this road was so enjoyable. |
What can I say? This is why I live in Colorado! |
There were so many picture opportunities! |
It was like Geology 101. See the snow above? Well, it was
melting which created a downhill stream that at one point freefalls to create a
waterfall. Eventually it pours into the creek below. |
Holy you-know-what! There were a few spots where I became a little unnerved over the lack of guardrails! |
Those mountains were like mammoth creatures ... not to be messed with. |
Oh by the way, Mark accidently put his foot in the creek awhile back and was drying out his sock. :) |
A cute platypus sits on a rock. How cute! |
