MANITOU SPRINGS, CO -- Steve "ColoradoGuy" Garufi's quest for long hair reached a significant milestone when his naturally curly hair was tied into two long braids this weekend at a local Christmas party in Manitou Springs.

The braids, which were twisted by Amber, an adorable 10-year-old, were part of the festivities during a Christmas party in which Steve took in-action photos of people eating.

"Those are very pretty braids," said Amber, "I think I want to be your hair consultant someday."

With party onlookers gazing at his hair and the ColoradoGuy press corps watching his every move, Steve reflected with emotion as he spoke at the social gathering.

"I would like to publicly thank Amber for making these braids and all the people who have supported me in growing out my hair. Today is very special day for my hair, my friends and the world!" declared Steve.

Donna, who hosted the party and served as Steve's Hair Consultant in 1999, probably best captured the tone of the celebration. "Uh, don't you think it's a little weird to be making a toast like that to your hair? Stop! You're going to spook out my other party guests."

Although some have accused Steve of being obsessed with his hair, many did appreciate a recent article where Steve displayed his violet-colored bonnet that he wears while sleeping.
